Our goal in rehabilitation is to help each patient become as independent as possible. Each member of the treatment team has spent years studying and working in preparation to help with this task. When it's not possible for someone to retain their former skill level, we want to help them retrain their body and their thinking to adjust to new ways of living.
We work with each patient to tailor a personalized treatment plan that meets their individual needs. Each patient has a structured, safe environment in which to work. We help them set and achieve specific goals so that they can increase their ability to think and communicate, gain greater physical endurance and become more confident and independent in everyday activities such as dressing, eating and walking.
We also want to encourage each patient to enlist the support of friends or family members during the rehabilitation process. If there's one special person, we ask him or her to stay close. If the patient works best with a lot of support, then we encourage them to pack the stands with fans-people who will call and visit, praise them when they're gaining ground and encourage them to be patient when progress is slow and when appropriate, participate in their daily care.
In addition, they will benefit from our patient and family education program designed to help the patient and their family learn how to manage the illness or injury, the rehabilitation process and any special challenges they may experience upon discharge.
Finally, the most important team member is the patient. It is important that they are included in setting goals and in any decisions regarding their individual treatment program.

Admission Criteria and Referral Process

Since each patients' care is directed by a team (consisting of the patient, their family, therapists, physicians, case managers and clinicians), broad, attainable goals are set and the team directs all their efforts to meeting those goals.
How we meet these goals, or more importantly how we know we meet these goals, is by precise, scientific measurement. Rehabilitation services hinge on the ability to demonstrate and record progress. Click here to learn more about our outcomes reporting.
